Bruxism and Mouthguards

Bruxism is a parafunctional activity which can occur during the day or night. It involves grinding and clenching of teeth which can damage the teeth and the TMJ (temporomandibular joint). One treatment for bruxism is a nightguardwhich will protect the teeth and cushion the joint during grinding. Other treatments include jaw exercises and a possible referral to a specialist in serious cases.

Mouthguards are a protective device that help protects the teeth and gums from injury during sport activities.
